Adam
Lynch (alynch@sprawl.eznet.net) from Rochester, NY, USA , 02/10/98, rating=10:The perfect book for those who are starting their Search. When I was 16, I started questioning my beliefs as an atheist. Never before had I questioned the fact that there was "something else," and I never had any idea of the rest of the world's religions. Then I ran across this book, and it opened up a whole new world to me. No longer was I smug in my avowment that there was no God. I actually began to understand why and how people could follow their faith, even to levels that would seem in excess to most people in the Western world. This book is a must read for those who are Searching, and for those who are even a little curious about other spiritual beliefs. |
The Witch's
God by Janet & Stewart Farrar "...But at the moment of truth comes when we have
learned to harmonize logical understanding and the intuition which stirs below the
surface, and to be able to integrate and rely on both. It is the moment of magic, when the
Gift of the God and the Gift of the Goddess, together, give birth to that bright flash of
confident awareness which tells us that wisdom has spoken." |
"The best solution would be the nonalarmed recognition, This is taffy.
I didnt see it as I stepped into it, but I felt it after I got stuck. Its just
taffy. The whole world is not made out of taffy. What would be a wise thing for me to do
now?'" Known to her thousands of students and colleagues as the
"Jewish grandmother bodhisattva, " Sylvia Boorstein makes the universal wisdom
of traditional Buddhist teachings easily available to all. Using powerful stories from
everyday experience, Boorstein demystifies spirituality and charts the path to happiness
through the Buddha's basic teachings. "This is a great book, it explains Buddhism
concepts in everyday language and in ways that can be incorporated into daily life easily.
Buddhism is not just a religion but a philosophy of life. One need not be a buddhist to
learn and be enriched by the sound spiritual concepts in this book. I found life to be a
bit more of astruggle than I could handle at times in the past until I found this concise,
reader friendly book that teaches you that most of life's struggles come from
over-attachment to people, places, things, beliefs, etc.Once we realize that life is by
it's very nature an ever changing journey and that nothing ever stays the same, we can
then find happiness when we let go of our attachments to beliefs, expectations, things,
etc. You will find yourself much more receptive to what life has to dish out when you give
up the belief that it should be a certain way." |

, 05/15/97, rating=10:a book to reread every day of your life! The Power of Flow is an inspiring and wonderful guide for everyday life. Charlene Belitz and Meg Lundstrom clearly and concisely show how synchronicity--the interconnectedness of events in our lives-- helps define the flow--how everything fits together in our lives. They provide the keys to how all us can tap into ourselves and our intuition and find meaning and learning from all the events and people in our lives, helping us all to become flowmasters--the people for whom everything just 'magically' falls into place. This is not a book to read once. It's a book to refer back to every day of our lives. |
Talking to Heaven by James Van PraaghAs in the case of James Redfield's The Celestine Prophecy once in a while a book comes along that unexpectedly soars to the bestseller lists simply because it feeds a specific spiritual hunger. Talking to Heaven is one such book. Based on the personal insights and memories of highly acclaimed medium James Van Praagh, Talking to Heaven offers comforting and startling stories about his contact with the deceased. Van Praagh could have used this text to prove that his gifts as a medium are authentic--the story about the deceased teenager who led his parents to his murderer is impressive (the result was a murder conviction)--but instead, Van Praagh offers spiritual and psychological comfort to those grappling with the loss of a loved one. He also helps readers develop their own means of talking to heaven. Even those who aren't aching for contact with the deceased will find Van Praagh's down-to-earth discussions of karma, the afterlife, and spiritual guides fascinating. : Combined Volume The Truth About Witchcraft Today
