Ever since Marygrace was old enough to walk, she's done what we came to call walk-abouts. Even as a 3 and 4 year old at a theatre or a business, she'd walk about, behind the counters, all around the theatre, introducing herself and asking questions of everyone she met.

Ever since Marygrace was old enough to talk, she would assert herself and boldly address situations. When she was 8 years old, boys were roughhousing in the McDonald's playhouse. She doesn't ask mom or dad. She marches up to the manager and demands that he get rid of them.

09/27/97 I said (since I turned 44 years old), "You know, in a year is when my mother had twins." Mark said, "Yeah, but those twins have been cut out. (meaning his vasectomy)"

Marygrace said with astonishment to me, "You mean you were siamese twins!!!"

I said, "No, Mark meant that because of his vasectomy..."

Marygrace said with increasing astonishment, "You mean Mark was a siamese twin!!!"

09/28/97 Marygrace is going to the Catholic Church with her sister Tara on Sundays. She said to me, "You know how they talk about God creating the earth and making humans? But then they talk about the dinosaurs and how the world was made. I think they made God up."

Marygrace constantly roleplays her adult careers. She's most often been a surgeon, but lately, she's planning to become a webmaster. She loves to take my cell phone, my daytimer, and she's giving orders and scheduling her day.

Marygrace loves bathrooms. Don't know why. Wherever we go she has to visit the bathroom. We didn't fully realize it was because she wanted to see what their bathroom looks like until she was about 8 1/2 years old, sat at the restaurant table, looked around and said, "I wonder what their bathroom looks like." Or, now that's she's 9 years old she went into the restaurant bathroom, looked around and her 25 year old sister, Tara, overheard her say, "Wow, we certainly have come a long way." I think Marygrace's last name was crapper in another life.

11/09/97 So I have a new client. I'll be doing their webpage. Marygrace is writing her own review of the restaurant and then goes to check out their bathroom. "It's BIG!" So it's unanimous, she's going to start reviewing bathrooms - nice ones, scary ones, big ones...

Holy Merger
There has long been a rumor that W. R. Grace Co. was going to buy the Fuller Brush Co. and Mary Kay Cosmetics and then merge with the Hale Business Systems. This would result in the new mega-corporate entity known as ... "Hale Mary Fuller Grace."
