10/19/2001 "Do you think anyone will bring their kids? I'm not sure if I can get someone to take them that day."

"If my teens were with us that weekend, we'd be bringing them. I believe her posting about all the childrens' activities means children are welcome."

10/19/2001 I shared in an earlier newsletter that my husband and I will be at the LCHS70 Descanso Garden tour. We got more info today:

Use the website below for information about the events at Descanso
on "our" weekend. There are lots of kid-oriented events, and the web
page does it more justice than I could. There is story-telling,
pumpkin carving demonstrations, a presentation about nocturnal
animals, and on Sunday at 3:00, an educational program on bats. Of
special interest, though, is the opportunity to "reserve an owl
pellet" for dissection during the Creepy Crawly Fair, Saturday and
Sunday from 10:00 to 4:00. Call 818-949-7980 re: the owl pellet
activity.

Admittance Update:

8:00 - 9:00 - for Descanso members ONLY, one hour before general
admission to the gardens (this is _new_ information, and different
from what I had understood to be the policy)

9:00 - 4:30 - free admission to Descanso with a card from a
reciprocating garden on the American Horticultural Society list
(email me if you aren't sure your card qualifies)

If you have membership in one of these gardens, you will also be
entitled to a 10% discount in the Gift Shop.

AGAIN, unless you are specifically a member of Descanso Gardens, you
will not be admitted to the Gardens until 9:00. At 9:00, they welcome
any and all. Please plan accordingly. I extend my regrets that I did
not have that information sooner. The birding will still be good at
9:00, so please do come at that time, and bring your binocs.

The gardens listed on the reciprocating list are from most states in
the U.S., Canada, the Virgin Islands, even the West Indies, so
chances are good you will be admitted free. Send an email to:
joannadrue@aol.com to check.

The number at Descanso is: 818-952-4400 for directions, hours, and
general information; call 818-952-4401 for other questions.

10/19/2001 "Dear Cheryl, I am going to attempt to send you my 4-6th grade class photos from Palm Crest so you can post them. I'm not quite sure where to send them. But I am also bringing copies tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing you! Janet Orvis"

10/19/2001 "I spoke with Sandy Oblonsky this evening. She and her husband will not be able to attend the reunion but said to say 'Hi' to everyone. She was wondering if anyone had heard from Jamie Scott or Mary Jane Binkley in recent years? Cheers! Jeff Peters"

10/18/2001 "Cheryl, I graduated a year behind you all. I have very fond memories of Malcolm Edwards and Rich Myers from our days at youth group at La Canada Presbyterian. I will be there Saturday with my 'sister' Kathy Loop. Looking forward in seeing all of you.

Steve Loop '72

ps I am on the reunion committee for our 30th."

10/18/2001 "Hello all, I will unfortunately not be able to attend what with starting a new job on August 1st and just having finished with my parents' moving and building a new place behind ours on our ol little acre in the bit town of Red Bluff.

I wish everyone the best but special hellos Terry F. and Nancy L. and Kathy L. and Dennis P. and Gary F., etc. best to everyone and please let me know how to order a copy of the 'memories book' I expect someone to organize. Stanton Ryals"

10/18/2001 "My husband explained the temporary solution to my posting new pictures on the temporary computer.

I've posted all the emails I received since 09/29/01 that I hadn't been able to post in the guestbook. It begins here:

http://www.mbwfamily.com/lchs71/guestbook/24.htm/

I posted Julie French's latest pics in the guestbook - 3rd/4th gr Oak Grove, pick of LCHS campus, and Pinnochio:

http://www.mbwfamily.com/lchs71/guestbook/27.htm/

and will also post them in the appropriate place soon.

I'll post more email addresses, and pics of who attended what reunion activity sometime soon.

Scott's posted more football reunion pics, captioned with his unique humor *chuckle*.

We're still hoping you can help with missing classmates, or convince a fellow classmate to show up at the remaining reunion activities. Check out the list at Scott's site:

Looking forward to seeing everyone at reunion this Sat nt, and picnic Sun noon.

Scott and I talked and agreed at the football game that both sites will remain up after the reunion, and will certainly continue to grow with your help.

10/16/2001 My husband's deduced that it's my computer giving me long-standing problems, but he doesn't have time to finish rebuilding my new one til Thanksgiving.  He's so swamped with the launching of more rent.com that he couldn't come up with the simple solution til I suggested it.  I'm posting from a temporary computer he had set up. I can't post new pictures yet tho *face a little aghast*.  Julie French has sent me more pictures, and Dennis Phinney is planning to send more pictures.

In the meantime, catch the football reunion pics on Scott's site:

http://www.lchs71.com/gallery.htm

and as of 10/18/01 I'm still typing in correspondence I've received since 9/29.  I hope to add pictures to names as I get time, will add email addresses, and pictures of those attending which activities.

10/15/2001 "Hi Cheryl. At the request of a classmate I am putting out one last note regarding this Sat. Would you please pass it on to the emails you have. Thanks, Sue.

We are making one last plea to those Classmates of LCHS71 to join us for a memorable evening this Saturday, Oct. 20th. In light of the recent attack on our country it seems an appropriate time for us to gather as old friends and relive good times and have some good laughs. We have classmates coming from as far away as Scotland, New Zealand, and Alaska so we would hope that you who are local would reconsider and join us. You can download the reservation form off of our website LCHS71.com and mail it to Phil Young today. Please email Sue Honer and let her know that you have sent in your reservation. Hope to see a few more of you on Saturday evening. The Reunion Committee :)
