10/18/01 "Dear Cheryl, Thank you so much for the wonderful trip down memory lane! Reading about Palm Crest Elementary, FIS and LCHS was a great treat. I'm looking forward to Saturday. You can tell Pete Cristos I was in Mrs. Urshel's 3rd grade class! What a great memory he has!
I have copies of Palm Crest photos - First grade with Mrs. McKnight, Second grade with Mrs. Patten, Third grade with Mrs. Urschel, Fourth grade with Mrs. Simpson and 5th grade with Mrs. More. Unfortunately they aren't captioned so it's hard to remember who everybody was.
We're flying down on Saturday from Sonoma County for the reunion. Wouldn't miss it.
I scanned the pictures of 3rd - 5th grades and will bring copies to the reunion. Looking forward to it!

10/17/01 "Hi Cheryl, Thanks for a great report on the Homecoming Game last Friday night. I certainly enjoyed your commentary...of course the game was great too!!!!! Now as for the drive from Laguna Niguel.....well????? But, my son Bret really enjoyed the game. Sorry we could not go for a drink @ "the former Reflections" - cuz.....uhhh.....Bret (and his Dad!!! hehe) had to get to bed!!!
Saturday should be a lot of fun as well. See you there!!
And please, give my best wishes and my expression of full support and love of our country to Michelle Colella. You can let her know I have utmost confidence in the President and Secretary's Rumsfield and Powell et al. In fact, Secretary Rumsfield, in my opinion is absolutely the right guy for this 'job' at this time in our nation's history. Again, please give Michelle my very best wishes.
Anyhow.........see you Saturday!!!

"Then he's bringing all of you! Cool! I didn't recognize his name, but I
just looked him up, I recognize his face. I hope to finish posting these kinds
of things, and hope to post his pic in the guestbook too. Thank you!"
10/16/01 "It was great to see a pic of John C. and Gary F. at the football game. woowa. Brought back memories of lining up next to Gary and looking out the corner of my helmet watching for the ball to move. Then remembering that the play called for Big John to run between Gary and I. Although usually John would run right up my back and over my head (still have cleat marks in back). I guess I was shorter than Gary and it was easier to zip right through me...Well enough memories, it was great to see the pics of the old guys. Hope you have more to post. Geoff Green"

"Cheryl, I finally found some pictures. I have tried to send them a couple
of times and it hasn't worked, so now I am going to try to send them
individually.
This one is my 3rd grade class at Oak Grove. Hope
you get it.
Here
are a few more pictures. I wanted to make sure it worked before I sent more.
These pictures are of a view of LCHS in '71
and two from Pinnochio.

"Thanks Cheryl for forwarding the update. I recognized several names. Funny
how I rubbed elbows with so many. I shan't be able to attend, I'm afraid; my
schedule won't permit it. Know, however, that I am thinking of everyone, wishing
them well, and hoping that by the time the next one rolls around, life will be
more stable, predictable, and accomodating.
Be well.

10/15/01 "Thanks for the update Cheryl. Looks like our group may also hit around 140. We still have a little more than a week to go, and we're still getting more classmates who are letting us know that they will be attending. Let me know how your reunion goes.
Best Regards,
'70 Mark Alarik"
10/14/01 "I wanted to take time to congratulate Michelle Colella Van Cleave on her recent nomination for the office of Assistant Secretary of Defense. I hope that you are met with a speedy confirmation by our Senate and I wish the highest level of success in performing your duties. I look at your new job as a chance for you to have an impact on defense policy as well as keeping us on the cutting edge of dealing with terrorism here at home.
I am sorry to say that I never had the honor of meeting you as we grew up in La Canada. I was a few years behind you at LCHS. I graduated in 1974. But even though I was a few years behind I feel I have a unique perspective on the responsibilities that will challenge you in your new position.
Two weeks after I graduated from LCHS I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. This was at the tail end of the Vietnam War and I have to admit that the budget back then was something our CO's always complained about. Would you please see that our troops have the necessary dollars to do the job that they are putting their life on the line for, day in and day out.
Michelle, I am currently a letter carrier for the US Postal Service. I am concerned today about the terrorism that has now raised its ugly head on our shores. We have to keep our eyes open for Target Mail that could potentially bring down the aircraft that is transporting it and within the last few days the threat of Anthrax exposure by handling contaminated mail.
Michelle, I look forward to hearing about your confirmation and I am proud to know that you will be in there fighting for a budget that is not only fair, but is worthy of the risks the members of the armed forces take daily. Good luck, and if you are not too busy, drop me a line at
Sincerely,
Thomas Hawkins"

"I have fully recovered and I will be going back to work tomorrow morning.
I have a disaster with my computer and have not been able to pick-up my
e-mails. My son has built me a new computer and will send it out next
week. I have really missed having it (it has been a month). I look forward to
the reunion next Saturday. I will see you there."
