Hi Cheryl:
A dear friend working as a translator in Bosnia
sent this to me and I thought you might want to share it with everyone.
Janet (Bostater) Platupe
May each person affected by these events feel the light and love of Spirit in the dark moments ahead.
May the strength, compassion, perseverance, and peace of God be with each person who strives to contribute to the physical,
emotional, and psychological healing from this event.
While those who were killed will suffer no more, may those who love them be comforted and surrounded by love.
May the children who lost parents today be raised with love by people who keep alive the memories of those fallen
parents.
May those children and every child on the planet step forward from this day in faith and conviction that we must
bring love to light the darkness of hate, fear, and violence that has fallen over some
pockets of our society.
May the horror of this terrorist massacre awaken in our hearts a BURNING PASSION for peace, for tolerance, for forgiveness,
for awareness.
May we be as vigilant and dedicated in service to LIGHT as those who carry out such acts must be in service to hate.
For we know that it takes only a tiny spark to dispel a room full of darkness. And our lights are bright, and our lights
are many.
May the winds that blow the debris of the World Trade Center through the
streets of New York continue to blow in our hearts.
May we preserve a powerful piece of this chaos to keep us mindful of the awesome
responsibility to stand for good, peace, and love and to everywhere bring these
omnipotent forces forward to heal the only SEEMING power of evil, fear, and hatred.
There is no way that love cannot win.
In truth, love is all there is.
May we remember this in every moment and step into the power of love accordingly.
And so it is.

" Cheryl I went to college in
New York. I am numb. I look at my television screen and
see images of buildings melted like candles into puddles
of concrete and flesh.I convince myself it isn't real. It's
a special effect. It's Pixar and the little creatures on the other side of
the glass are bugs. The analogy works, briefly. I am reminded of this awful
kid who showed up in summer school one year and pulled wings from bugs and
stuffed their little bodies into a mayonaise jar until his jar was filled
with fuzzy beads with thousands of shiny green eyes.
But I look close and see police bugs and fire bugs, advertising bugs and business bugs, lady bugs and daddy bugs and it starts to sink in that with 10,000 dead and perhaps a 100 colleges in New York, the math isn't really in my favor. There are classmates of mine from college who are buried in those twin piles of rubble.
A month or two from now my college alumni magazine (the one I usually throw out) will arrive from upstate New York. I will scour the obituaries and the usual page will have ballooned to seven and the names will be small this time. There will be names I know, a physics lab partner, a hockey teammate, a fraternity brother and perhaps by then, I will know better what to do. For then this tragedy will have a face or two. But for now I am paralyzed, an angry man trying to push square tears through round eyes as I wait for the dead to be numbered.
I'll go home tonight. I will say a prayer, afraid to consider which classmates families I might be praying for. Tomorrow morning I'll kiss my wife for a few seconds more than I usually do, and when my kid comes home from college on weekends, I will hug him a little tighter. I am sad now that I never went to my college reunion.
A month from now when I see you guys I will be a little more grateful to see you then I might have been otherwise. I hope you understand and I sincerely hope you all come to the reunion. Dennis Phinney"
