08/27/2001 "FYI I remember Trinka very clearly. Had a big crush on her in the 8th grade. She enjoyed horses and stuff?! I came across her once in the mid seventys when I was selling Fuller Brush door to door in La Crescenta. She looked great and seemed to be getting along just fine. Stanton"

08/25/2001   "I just had the oddest experience.  Our teens have been with their other parents all of August.  My 2nd husband's spending all this week's vacation studying and taking one test after another to upgrade his certifications *grumble grumble*.  House is quiet.  Out of boredom I finally started to go thru a box of old letters that have been sitting in my bedroom for months from storage, waiting to be gone thru, sorted, and discarded.  I discovered a letter I wrote to my first husband, '70 Phillip Barron, when he was a boyfriend in the Navy, that spoke about, '...the three performances of Alice in Wonderland for English, Monday, was really something. Ross Rankin was going to narrate for us but got sick, so in 10 minutes Bill Neal learned the part. Now we've found out that Ross, lead psychiatrist in David and Lisa, has mono. And today my back hurts from falling down the rabbit hole (of course Scott Fuller gave me an extra push).  Hey! Patti is an usherette for David and Lisa so she can't go with Steve. And tell Suspicious Steven that, yes, she was sick. Now what have you planned and who would be getting your tickets anyway, if you go to David and Lisa?'

Heaven knows who Pattie and Steve are.

I found another letter 12/17, 'Patti will be busy Friday and Saturday nights ushering plus she has been busy with Bill Smith. But I'll ask her about any time that weekend. But, Phil, she thought Steve was nice and hoped he didn't feel anymore for her. By the way, she said she's glad you're taking her advice.'

Wait a minute. I think it's coming back to me. I think Patti's the one who kept my favorite red costume dress.

The letter continues, '...My name's not Cheryl anymore but 'Alice'. But if one more person calls me that I'll go crazy and maybe go in to my own Wonderland away from all these kooks in this world.'

I found a page from another letter regarding our drama teacher, 'Does Mr. Barker know something I don't? I was helping him serve the extra wedding cake in drama when suddenly he stopped everything to hand me the flowers off the cake. He looked at me, smiled, and quietly said, 'Take these for a good marriage.'  Sometimes he scares me. I just don't know about him.

I was assigned a part in another play. I'm Mrs. Murphy...I'll be leaving in a few minutes to go sell tickets at the Plaza as ticket sales are really bad so we are taking things in hand by ourselves.'

Anyone remember if it was Mr. Barker's wedding cake?

Another letter, 01/10/71, "Today I was at Michelle's to discuss the Drama Club production at the Country Club - $5.00 for dinner, dancing, and the production. Real classy, huh? But you'll never guess what we're doing. First of all, the Nun's Priest's Tale from Chaucer, then a story from Pooh, the Emperor's New Clothes (that should be interesting, Bruce is the Emperor) and Chicken Little which we are making in to an ecological theme. Rehearsals are every day from now on and even tho I'm only the narrator in Chaucer's story I'm to go to all the rehearsals to help Michelle direct...I may be going to a three day Thespian Conference (that's Drama) up in Santa Barbara, that weekend...Most all of us in David and Lisa will be going. Other seniors and underclassmen will be going. We all stay in a motel and go to workshops.

There is a 'clean' party at Michelle Colella's for students and teachers after Friday's performance and a BYOB party at Patti Lundgren's after Saturday's performances...Patti and Bill Smith have hit off so well there wouldn't be anyone else right now, anyway.'  Ed was out of luck.

*chuckle* Ok, it's not the girl who took my favorite red costume dress. It's Patti Lundgren!  So she got the guy with those incredible eyes!"

I don't know what this partial letter is about, "Ross is back and will play Fri and Sat nights. But now Bob Black, one of the rapists, fell out of a tree right on his rear and he's walking pretty funny...Scott Fuller is taking his place...But what bugs me is the slap across the face she has to take. I rehearsed that part with them eight times and I can't just stand waiting for Greg Baumer to slug me."  I guess it's about David and Lisa.

I found this.

Not bad for a boring afternoon.  I even got rid of some letters.
