Palm Crest Elementary School Memories
*note* 8:15pm 07/07/2001 will begin trying to put names to faces in the new pics later.
"Shoot, i just composed a note and clicked
the wrong button..i don't know where it went but I was remembering
kindergarten with Mrs. Muff, Mrs. Munson 1st, Mrs. Patton 2nd grade,
Mrs. Urschel 3rd, Mrs. Simpson 4th and Mrs. More for 5th. Doggy day on
Wednesdays meant a hot dog and a cupcake. The cafeteria wasn't built
until the last year and the burgers were ghastly. Mr. Henn was the
principal. I remember having to climb up on this stump to reach the
rings and always fearing falling into it when I was done swinging all the
way around. I had callouses on my hands all the way thru the fifth
grade from those rings. Liza Sears/Anast and Chrissy Holmes
lived on the other side of the gate. Mrs. Munson lived in that
wonderful house on the corner of Palm. Remember Mary Russell and Sloan
McDonald went to Palm Crest until the 5th grade and then went to Westridge.
And remember Bart Rhinehart whose father owned Indian Springs the only
public swimming pool in the area down off Verdugo and Canon. Now it's
a Sav-on. Golly gee I digress way too much, see you all real soon,
love D'Lorah"

06/16/2001 " Cheryl, I remember Palm Crest well, we lived across the street on Jessen Dr. I attended all five years 5 yrs. and then moved away to Saugus, later to Texas. I then moved back before my senior year at L.C.H.S.in Mrs. Muff's kindergarten class I remember pounding on scrap 2x4's with nails in the back of the classroom. First grade was Mrs. Munson who lived down the street from us which incidently was an old house on the Palm crest school grounds. (corner of Palm and Jessen). Her husband was also the janitor at Palm Crest. Second grade was Mrs. Urshel, which had a pool party for us at her house in Altadena. Third grade was Mrs. Patton ,great teacher. Fourth I had Mrs. Simpson which also was my art teacher at L.C.H.S. senior year. Fifth was Mrs. Lovejoy which made us square dance Yuch ! to this day! Over all I have fond memories of the school. Max Ingham."

05/15/2001 Most of my memories (elementary school-wise) revolve around Palm Crest. My favorite teacher there was Mrs. Shopflin who I hear is teaching now at LCHS. Michael Hardy
Tell us what you think. Here's what I've been hearing from you!
